Medicare carrier merger results in TMS coverage change!

August 15, 2014
Medicare has adopted and implemented a new TMS local coverage determination, Effective August 15, 2014, which will now provide Medicare members of Massachusetts access to TMS.

January 2014

A review for TMS coverage for NGS Medicare of New England was recently conducted and the decision to not cover it was upheld.

October 25, 2013
Medicare (NHIC) merged with another carrier (NGS). As a result of this merger Medicare is no longer covering TMS. A reconsideration request for covering TMS was found valid, so Medicare may resume coverage of TMS shortly. We will update the site with any news regarding this.

As of August 15, 2014, the following Health Plans now have established TMS coverage policies:

• Fallon Community Healthcare
• Blue Cross of Massachusetts
• Tufts Health Plan
• Harvard Pilgrim Health Plan
• Anthem Blue Cross
• Empire Blue Cross
• United Behavioral Health
• Optum Health Plan
• Medicare

If you are covered under one of these policies and are interested in TMS Therapy, please contact our TMS Coordinator at (617) 879-3011 for more information on what this means for you.
